David Wilkerson A respected pastor, best-selling author and founder of a major ministry to teen predicts an imminent “an earth-shattering calamity” centered in New York City that will spread to major urban areas across the country and around the world – part of what he sees as a judgment from God.
David Wilkerson author of “The Cross and The Switchblade” a book about his ministry to troubled New York street kids that was later made into a movie starring Pat Boone, tells readers of his blog this weekend that he is “compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message” about his prediction.
“An earth-shattering calamity is about to happen,” he writes. “It is going to be so frightening; we are all going to tremble – even the godliest among us.” Wilkerson’s vision is of fires raging through New York City. “It will engulf the whole mega-plex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires – such as we saw in Watts, Loa Angeles years ago,” he explains. “There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting – including Times Square, New York City. What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God’s wrath. In Psalm 11 it is written, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” Wilkerson is the founding pastor of Times Square Church in New York City, where he launched a ministry to gang members and drug addicts in 1958. He is a highly regarded mentor to other pastors in evangelical circles and travels the world holding conference for other Christian ministers. His work in New York in the 1950s and 1960s led to the formation of Teen Challenge a nationwide ministry to reach out to people with life-controlling habits. Teen Challenge has grown to include 173 residential program and numerous evangelism outreach centers in the United States, and 241 centers in 77 other countries. The program claims a recovery rate of 86 percent. The story of Wilkerson’s first five years of ministry in New York is told in “The Cross and the Switchblade,” a book he co-authored in 1963. The book became a best-selling phenomenon and more than 15 million copies have been distributed in over 30 languages. “God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations,” claims Wilkerson. “He is destroying the secular foundations. Wilkerson urges everyone to stockpile a 30-day supply of food and other necessities to deal with the catastrophe he foresees. “I do not know when these things will come to pass, but I know it is not far off,” Wilkerson concluded in his message. “I have unburdened my soul to you. Do with the message as you choose.”

“A Kingdom response to the spirit of fear and the principalities of confusion and chaos.”
From time to time I receive emails forwarded to me by sincere believers who, quite frankly end up giving voice to the spirit of the enemy. I don’t believe these emails are intentionally intended to produce fear and anxiety but the lack of scriptural truth from which they stem is staggering and quite confusing to the Body of Christ. They are not rooted upon the personhood and character of truth, The Lord Jesus, but are rather founded upon fear and a mistaken tone of distrust concerning His faithfulness. These messages do not edify or build up His body but instead instill a double-minded response to His Word and Love which is directed towards us freely and unconditionally. We are failing to receive His power and virtue. We are failing to believe what Christ said and did and walk in what he has given us because we are focusing more on the current barrage against us from the enemy as far as the tone of the world and what is happening in the USA. And so, I am compelled by the Spirit to respond. For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood, contending only with physical opponents, but against the despotisms, against the powers, against the master spirits who are the rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly supernatural sphere. Eph. 6:12
There is no doubt that we are living in trying days but these are exciting days to live in if we will walk through them with a true Christ centered mindset. A true Christ centered mindset is a mindset anchored upon Kingdom realities. A mindset established upon Truth and the Kingdom does not deny the inferior realities that we can physically see, but a true Christ centered mindset, through clear vision and kingdom perspective embraces the superior, far outreaching, supernatural realities that cannot be seen with the natural eye. This is how a life, set on Christ, becomes an effective life that God sets forth in the darkness to be a blazing light of righteousness. This is the truth. How else are we to fight and be effective if the right foundation is not in place? How are we to function if we do not understand the spiritual rules of engagement that directly determine the outcome of the circumstances we are sent to change. We had better know them if we believe that our steps are ordered of the Lord as His people.
My people says the Lord, are not destroyed because the wrong political powers are in office, nor do they perish because the economy and stock market falls, they are not destroyed because oil markets skyrocket or because the news media is slanted and stacked against Me. My people do not perish because of mortgage corruption and the influence of one world government leanings. My people are destroyed for lack or knowledge; because you, the priestly nation have rejected knowledge. Wisdom cries aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the markets; she cries at the head of the noisy intersections in the chief gathering places; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks; How long, O simple ones open to evil will you love being simple? And the scoffers delight in scoffing and the self confident fools hate knowledge? If you will turn and repent and give heed to my reproof, behold, I wisdom will pour out my spirit upon you, I will make my words known to you. Proverbs 1:20-23
We must become more involved in the affairs of our country on every level available to us. Part of walking in the fear of the Lord is the recognition that we are joined to Him. He that is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him and just as the Father sent Him as a light into the world, so we too, have been sent as children of the light and of the day, set forth as lights in the midst of a perverse and crooked generation. As a spiritual body pregnant with His anointing and power, what is to be the outcome if we remain shallow and un-engaged as God has ordained us to be in our American experience? Our failure to engage is a direct refusal to answer His call.
Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord, would accept none of my council and despised all my reproof, therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way and be satiated with their own devices. For the backsliding of the simple shall slay them, and the careless ease of self confidant fools shall destroy them, but whoso hearkens to me wisdom shall dwell securely and in confidant trust and shall be quiet, without fear or dread. Proverbs 1: 29-33
The culmination of the things we see today is the result of the Body of Christ’s retreat from a decadent culture. For at least two generations, believers as a whole have been not as aggressive or as visible as we should have been. Abortion, the removal of prayer in school, the loss of our history and heritage and forfeiture of music and movies to the secular Hollywood establishment has all played a part in the decline of our nation. God is not to blame for the ills we face, we are! We have made some recent progress but not the God ordained progress that David experienced when he ran toward an uncircumcised, un-covenanted Philistine named Goliath and in anointed boldness with the Word of the Lord on his lips, took Goliath’s head off with his own sword. Are not the political system and pop culture a type and shadow of an un-covenanted Philistine?
How long will we endure the blasphemous railings and accusations of the accuser toward us and our Father? God is calling His people to stand up, His spirit is being poured out on the Earth and He is not punishing but reproving and chastening His children because He intensely loves us beyond anything we can think or imagine. These are days of His visitation and His Glory shall indeed fill the Earth. Judgment is the farthest thing on His mind and is alien to His covenant with us established and forever settled in the precious blood of His son. Ps. 88:33-34 declares, My loving kindness will I not break off from him, nor allow my faithfulness to fail, to lie and be false to him. My covenant will I not break or profane, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
He loves us with an unfailing love and just as we train and discipline our children, God is doing the same to us. He does not orchestrate calamity nor deal with us in wrath! He has not changed His mind or His agenda concerning us. His love and mercy neither heats nor cools. Why? Because it is not motivated by anything other than the nature of who He is. He doesn’t have love, He is Love, He doesn’t have mercy, He is Mercy by his very nature and nothing has changed. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with who is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17
The angel of the Lord declared, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. Luke 2:14. Nothing has changed! The heart of God is still full of good will toward men. It is man who has doubted His good will and neglected the benefits that peace provides. So what are we to say concerning these things?
David Wilkerson A respected pastor, best-selling author and founder of a major ministry to teen predicts an imminent “an earth-shattering calamity” centered in New York City that will spread to major urban areas across the country and around the world – part of what he sees as a judgment from God.
( #1) An “earth shattering calamity as part of a judgment from God?”
Really?
Did Jesus not say; the thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10
And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. John 12:47
Has God changed His mind? I don’t think so. He declares, The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Pet. 3:9
What leads us to repentance? Isn’t it the goodness of the Lord?
Or despises thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leads thee to repentance? Rom 2:4
Oh that man would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Ps. 107:15
Yes, there is a day of judgment coming but that day is not today!
But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasures up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Rom. 2:5
It is the love and goodness of God that draws men to repentance and into a relationship with Him. That love and goodness is demonstrated through His body. If the body isn’t saying what the head is speaking and the heart is expressing, then men won’t want to repent. Why would they want to, when we look like a bunch of confused double minded folks who don’t know what we believe. It is time for the immature body of Christ to grow up and stop being so carnally minded? We need to stop blaming God for our current state of affairs as if He is in total control. He has given us dominion and authority! The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to man. Ps. 115:16
The current state we are in is a testimony to our stewardship. Just as Adam was responsible for Eden, we too, are responsible for what God has entrusted us with. We are His ambassadors and what have we done with that authority? We have handled our God given authority with neglect while religion has given us a small, dull two edged sword! Our hearts are full of mingled seed and so our words and most importantly, our love, is untrustworthy and un-received by a world that desperately searches to find the cure for the ache in its soul!
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A mans harvest in life is based solely on the seeds he sows. Gal. 6:7
If you are not happy and content with the current state of affairs, do something about it and get your mind renewed and find Gods perspective concerning the day we live in. As far as God is concerned, the moment we begin to pat ourselves on the back for being so good and start judging the world for being so bad is the day that our pride is uglier than their sin. This is how we rob ourselves of Gods grace upon us. God resist the proud, not because He wants too, but because our bullheaded pride declares we can do it on our own and don’t need Him. And yet, He is the God who justifies the ungodly. He is the God who gives up His life for His enemies. And you speak of judgment? Do you want peace and safety? You can have it even when things are falling apart all around you. Even a man of God who does miraculous things and speaks as a prophet can blow it because his perspective is out of line with the Fathers.
Jeremiah understood this well. Listen to the discourse that went on between God and Jeremiah and see if it applies. Jeremiah 15:15-21 - Jeremiah said; O Lord You know and understand; earnestly remember me and visit me and avenge me on my persecutors. Take me not away from joy or from life itself in Your long-suffering to my enemies; know that for Your sake I suffer and bear reproach. 16Your words were found, and I ate them; and Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart, for I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts. 17I sat not in the assembly of those who make merry, nor did I rejoice; I sat alone because Your powerful hand was upon me, for You had filled me with indignation. 18Why is my pain perpetual and my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Will you indeed be to me like a deceitful brook, like waters that fail and are uncertain? 19Therefore thus says the Lord to Jeremiah: If you return and give up this mistaken tone of distrust and despair, then I will give you again a settled place of quiet and safety, and you will be My minister; and if you separate the precious from the vile cleansing your own heart from unworthy and unwarranted suspicions concerning God’s faithfulness, you shall be My mouthpiece. But do not yield to them. Let them return to you–not you to the people. 20And I will make you to this people a fortified, bronze wall; they will fight against you, but they will not prevail over you, for I am with you to save and deliver you, says the Lord. 21 And I will deliver you out of the hands of the wicked, and I will redeem you out of the palms of the terrible and ruthless tyrants.
We must all the more as we see the events of the world unfold, put on the mind of Christ and understand that the Fathers heart is one of compassion and mercy. He is not the author or instigator of what we are experiencing because this is not the way the Kingdom of Heaven operates. There is no lack in heavenly places, no fear, nor anxiety and dread. We as believers are seated in heavenly places and we must do what Paul said to the church at Colossi.
Colossians 3:1-3 – If then you have been raised with Christ to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead, aim at and seek the rich, eternal treasures that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2and set your minds and keep them set on what is above, the higher things, not on the things that are on the earth. 3For as far as this world is concerned you have died and your new, real life is hidden with Christ in God.
Part of realistically applying this verse is to resist the temptation to judge things based solely on natural circumstances. If we don’t keep a Kingdom perspective in line with the Fathers heart we will fall victim to the deception of the enemy and do what the Corinthian church did as Paul warned them…….1st Corinthians 4:5 – So do not make any hasty or premature judgments before the time when the Lord comes again, for He will both bring to light the secret things that are now hidden in darkness and disclose and expose the secret aims motives and purposes of hearts. Then every man will receive his due commendation from God.
Our role as a believer in this society is to be a conduit of love and mercy. Christ has not changed and if we are in Him, He is our life and it is only because His love and mercy reached out for us when we were His enemies. Romans 5: declares; for when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
Let’s grow up and get past indicting God as a vengeful judge and realize that our failure to appropriate our role as an effective ambassador and as the sons and daughters of the King of Glory is the reason our country is in the shape it’s in! The only explanation for darkness is the absence of light!
(#2) “It is going to be so frightening; we are all going to tremble, even the godliest among us.” Wilkerson’s vision is of fires raging through New York City. Really?
Who are the godliest among us? What does that mean? When will we stop comparing ourselves amongst ourselves? 2nd Corinthians 10:12 declares; Not that we have the audacity to venture to class or even to compare ourselves with some who exalt and furnish testimonials for themselves! However, when they measure themselves with themselves and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding and behave unwisely. We are walking in deception and error.
Our righteousness is of Christ! No man is declared righteous or justified by the works of the Law or flesh. Any godliness we possess was imputed to us when Christ joined himself to us in covenant union. He gave all of himself liberally to every believer without reservation or partiality. Any man saved by grace through faith, whether he lives in the gutter or lives in a palace is no more or less godly, for Christ is the source of their righteousness and justification. To be spiritually minded (Kingdom reality) is life! To be carnally minded (external and sense directed) is death! The key to effectively apply the mind of Christ and keep you there is to put on the helmet of salvation. It is foolish and ignorant to believe you can experience and retain the full benefits of His life and wisdom without protecting where the head is seated. The helmet of salvation (Sozo) is the helmet of wholeness. Salvation is much more than saved from hell and wrath. Salvation is the bulletproof, concrete assurance that Christ provided (past tense) wholeness to my being (spirit, soul and body) It is the essence of the new creature, Paul talked about in 2nd Cor. 5:17 – Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.
The truth is that Christ is seated as the source of my live and that He is pre-eminent over my life but, that truth only makes an impact upon my life when I embrace Him in His fullness and thus receive that fullness. As far as God is concerned, It is already ours and settled in Heaven. What was the price for such a blessed gift? The precious, covenant blood of Christ Jesus
My point #1: When it comes to spiritual reality, no born again man or woman is godlier than another. All the religious trappings we participate in may reveal our devotion, our leaning to one denomination or another or display a zeal for the things of God but it does not make us godlier as far as God is concerned. You and I are as godly as we are going to get.
1st Corinthians 6:17 – But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him
Does that sound like wholeness to you? Does that sound like peace and safety, security and confidence? I don’t think it gets any better than that. Do you?
#3 “So Frightening? – We are all going to tremble? – He is destroying the secular foundations? – God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations? – Wilkerson urges everyone to stockpile a 30-day supply of food and other necessities to deal with the catastrophe he foresees ? - What we are experiencing isn’t a recession, not even a depression? – We are under God’s wrath? “
THIS IS FEARFILLED DECEPTION FROM THE ENEMY!
THIS IS NOT THE HEART OF GOD!!!
In Psalm 11 it is written, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
HOW ABOUT THE RIGHTEOUS REPENTING OF THEIR INACTION AND SIMPLTON MINDSET!
2nd Tim. 1:6-8 – That is why I would remind you to stir up, rekindle the embers of, fan the flame of, and keep burning the gracious gift of God, the inner fire that is in you by means of the laying on of my hands with those of the elders at your ordination. 7For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear,, but He has given us a spirit of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control. 8Do not blush or be ashamed then, to testify to and for our Lord, nor of me, a prisoner for His sake, but with me take your share of the suffering to which the preaching of the Gospel may expose you, and do it in the power of God.
Ps. 28:7 – The Lord is my Strength and my impenetrable Shield; my heart trusts in, relies on, and confidently leans on Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song will I praise Him.
1st John 4:18 -There is no fear in love, dread does not exist, but full-grown complete, perfect love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and so he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love, is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection.
Romans 8:29- 39 – For those whom He foreknew, of whom He was aware and loved beforehand, He also destined from the beginning, foreordaining them to be molded into the image of His Son and share inwardly His likeness, that He might become the firstborn among many brethren. 30And those whom He thus foreordained, He also called; and those whom He called, He also justified, acquitted, made righteous, putting them into right standing with Himself. And those whom He justified, He also glorified, raising them to a heavenly dignity and condition or state of being. 31What then shall we say to all this? If God is for us, who can be against us? Who can be our foe, if God is on our side? 32He who did not withhold or spare even His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all other things? 33Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect when it is God Who justifies, that is, who puts us in right relation to Himself? Who shall come forward and accuse or impeach those whom God has chosen? Will God, Who acquits us? 34Who is there to condemn us? Will Christ Jesus (the Messiah), Who died, or rather Who was raised from the dead, Who is at the right hand of God actually pleading as He intercedes for us? 35Who shall ever separate us from Christ’s love? Shall suffering and affliction and tribulation, or calamity and distress, or persecution or hunger or destitution or peril or sword? 36Even as it is written, For Thy sake we are put to death all the day long; we are regarded and counted as sheep for the slaughter. 37Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us. 38For I am persuaded beyond doubt and am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers, 39Nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
My point #2 Bottom Line – The enemy is robbing the body of Christ of its confidence. We must repent, change our thinking and get real! Our God loves us and is pouring His spirit upon all flesh at this hour. He is not in the destroying business! He is in the restoring business! He doesn’t need to judge the raging sins of America, sin carries its own penalty and it always pays off in death. The secular foundations are not being destroyed by God; they are perishing and fading away because they are not centered upon the principles of His Kingdom any longer. This is the fault of complacent, uninvolved believers who hide their light because they don’t want to make waves. I think we need to shake the ship! Stockpile food? The righteous are never forsaken, nor their seed begging bread. He meets our needs according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus and if you’re not experiencing it, it isn’t because He is keeping it from us. We are failing to appropriate what He has already given and the issue is not His giving, but our receiving. Does He not feed the birds of the air? Are you not more precious than they? One way or the other we are going to have to choose whether or not we really believe this stuff. Are these just words, void of power and results? Think about this carefully. And if you need to unburden your soul, by all means, do it. Jesus said; Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle, meek and humble, lowly in heart, and you will find rest, relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet for your souls. Matthew 11:29
I believe, many of God’s people carry un-necessary weights. Weights, which have nothing to do with life and real living as God intended us to live. We are carrying baggage that God never authored and inwardly we have been spreading the toxic herbicide of religion to the soil of our hearts. The herbicide is un-approved and un-authorized from God and it has made many a garden unfruitful. If the garden of your heart does not produce the life of the spirit and the quality of life that Jesus is, than I believe you need to re-inspect the foundation for what you believe and re-examine the boundary of your heart and ask God to give you the courage to unpack the dead weight of belief systems that do not produce the life of Christ manifested in you and through you. The Christian life is a burden without the revelation of being a Christ inside me man. Christ in you; the hope of Glory is not a destination somewhere in the future! It is your very real, present reality and current disposition!
I was compelled to write you all concerning these things and I have done so. I know without question, God, is going to use this message to stir you up and put you in remembrance of things He has revealed to you in the past. It’s just that at that time you may not have had the spiritual ears to hear this message. By faith, knowing that God will oversee His word and perform it, I anticipate this to create a ripple that turns into a wave that stirs people toward action and renewal. May the favor of the Lord overtake you and I pray that your inward man is flooded with revelation in the knowledge of Him and that you may know what the purpose of His call is for your life. Arise and awaken, Oh mighty men of valor for your time has come and the hour of the Kings visitation is upon us.
Freely I have received, freely I have given. Do with the message as you choose.
Sooner Than You Think!
THIS SAME JESUS SHALL COME AGAIN, NOT AS A SUFFERING MESSIAH, BUT AS KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS!THE LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH IS COMING SOON! CAN YOU NOT SENSE THAT HIS APPEARING IS NEAR? HE IS ABOUT TO STEP THROUGH THE PORTAL OF TIME AND SPACE.
BEHOLD, HE COMETH IN CLOUDS AND EVERY EYE SHALL SEE HIM, AND THEY ALSO WHICH PIERCED HIM: AND ALL KINDREDS OF THE EARTH SHALL WAIL BECAUSE OF HIM. EVEN SO, AMEN -REVELATION 1:7
